Block-closure of Tata Motors commercial vehicle (CV) plant in Pune has
forced 5,500-odd auto ancillary units in and around the city to lay off
over 4,000 temporary workers employed on a ‘clock-hour’ basis. A slump
in demand for vehicles has forced auto companies to reduce output
levels. Announcement of production cuts has caused trouble for
ancillary units across the country.
