There are 5,934 contestants from 184 panchayats with South Goa district
having 2,248 candidates, 1,059 from the 269 wards of the 33 panchayats
in Salcete itself, while North Goa district has 3,638 candidates.
Fourteen candidates have been elected unopposed including four in Bardez
taluka and four in Salcete taluka. One among the four in Bardez is the
sitting panch, Ms Delilah Lobo from Parra who happens to be the wife of
the Calangute MLA.
