Their study of nearly 37,000 people, published in the online journal BMJ Open, said balding men were 32% more likely to have coronary heart disease.

Lighten up your diet this spring

Lighten up your diet this spring

By shoaib on from www.foxnews.com

Spring has officially sprung, and with it comes the promise of a spring harvest and the possibility of a spring cleanse. As the cold of winter wears off, the body naturally begins to crave lighter foods, which can help lift the heaviness of the past season. Eating in accordance to the spring season will help you feel regenerated and ready to blossom.

Wood works wonders

Wood works wonders

By barry321 on from www.nowtoronto.com

Hawthorne Food & Drink certainly looks like a regular restaurant. There’s slate on the wall and bare tables set with stemware flanked by beige banquettes and a state-of-the-art open kitchen. There’s a “soup of the moment,” and shelves lined with Mason jars of house-made preserves that practically scream locavore. But dig below the surface and Hawthorne is not what it seems.

By kate on from www.medicalnewstoday.com

Canola oil and high-oleic canola oils can lower abdominal fat when used in place of other selected oil blends, according to a team of American and Canadian researchers. The researchers also found that consuming certain vegetable oils may be a simple way of reducing the risk of metabolic syndrome, which affects about one in three U.S. adults and one in five Canadian adults.

José Andrés's Catalan Sausage With Mushrooms

José Andrés's Catalan Sausage With Mushrooms

By posterjoser on from online.wsj.com

SUCCESS FAVORS the persistent. Take this recipe, for instance, the third Slow Food Fast contribution from José Andrés. It evolved out of the initial failure of another dish, botifarra con alubias, a classic Catalan preparation of pork and beans. When the dish first appeared on the menu at Jaleo, the chef's Washington, D.C., tapas restaurant, diners just didn't take to it.

Spring recipes by Blanche Vaughan

Spring recipes by Blanche Vaughan

By chrysolite on from www.guardian.co.uk

It's Easter, time to look forward to spring and the colour, fresh produce and new life that it brings. Tender new growth is starting to appear, the first asparagus shoots will be piercing through the soil, and crisp red radishes are arriving at the market. I've chosen recipes to celebrate this new phase: young vegetables, gently braised chicken and fresh, lemony meringue tart.
