Before it was over, plane delays would
cause my daughter Elena and I to miss a cruise ship and be stranded in a
foreign city thousands of miles from home without luggage and a place
to stay.Just before 8 a.m. on that Friday in June, we had arrived at the Oklahoma City airport with plenty of time before our 10:10 a.m. flight to Atlanta.

The Marghera shipyard (Venice) is where Fincantieri delivered to Costa
Cruises, Italy’s largest tourism group and Europe’s no. 1 cruise
company, the newest flagship, the Costa Favolosa (114,500 gross tonnage
and a capacity of 3,800 total Guests): the largest cruise ship flying
the Italian flag.


The Costa Favolosa (www.costafavolosa.com),
the 15th vessel comprising Costa’s fleet, the only fleet flying the
Italian flag, is a symbol of Italian pride that will sail the seven
seas. About 3,000 employees and 7,000 workers from linked industries
contributed to the construction of the ship. Most of the companies
involved in the shipbuilding activities, about 500, are Italian. The
total cost of the investment in the new building undertaken by Costa
Cruises is worth approximately 510 million euros.

Travel Channel reports: The sexiest beaches in Croatia are located in Dubrovnik, Brela and Hvar


 


American tourist site Travel Channel, which has over 95 million
users worldwide, has compiled a list of ten sexiest beaches in Croatia.
The website says that the beaches have always been the biggest
attractions in Croatia. Moreover, Croatia has numerous islands that are
definitely worth a visit. The site also advises: 'Leave the kids at
home, we'll take you to the sexiest beaches'.

Istanbul was named as one of the world's top performing tourist
destinations in 2011, based on Mastercard's new Worldwide Index of
Global Destination Cities, published on Wednesday (June 1st). The
company predicted that in 2011, Istanbul will be the city with the
largest growth in tourism expenditures -- up 30.1% compared to the
previous year.

Day 46 of Croatia's innovative tourism project, to create the world's
largest welcome, began on the island of Hvar on May 26 2011 with a visit
to a rock climbing facility. The aim of the 62-day project is to
highlight both the natural beauty of Croatia and the diverse nature of
its adventure tourism by following a winding, 2,500km route from north
to south which spells the word "Welcome."
