Mac users with multiple Finder windows littering your desktop: hold down the Option key when you click on the close button on one to close them all in one shot. This works for any multi-window Mac app (though normally you'd just hit Cmd+Q to quit entirely). Here are a few more things you didn't know you can do on your Mac.

Amit from technology weblog Digital Inspiration points out a new under-the-radar feature in Firefox 3: multiple text selection. Now selecting text in Firefox is similar to selecting text in most text editors—just select your first piece of text, then hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Macs) to select other pieces of non-consecutive text. It may not be a top 10 Firefox 3 feature, but multiple text selection may come in very handy when you're pulling quotes for research and you don't want to do it one piece at a time. While you're at it, be sure to enable multi-line pasting for input boxes. read more »

iTunes users who aren't heavy checkbox users, selecting songs by checking them off is an easy way to make playlists on the fly (by selecting "Match only checked items" in the Smart Playlist dialog). Macworld points out that you can check or uncheck a list of songs (from a search, or in a playlist, or in your entire library) by Cmd+clicking on any song checkbox in the collection (Ctrl+Click for Windows users).
