We asked earlier this week what disposable items you had found clever re-uses for, and the answers are in. Not surprisingly, some of you have some pretty crafty uses for household goods that usually end up at the curb. A 28-year-old man was remanded in custody today charged with the
theft of a Cork pensioner’s life savings while posing as a Garda.

Lyons, with an address at Willison Meadows, Tower, Blarney, Co Cork was
charged with the theft of €28,000 in cash from the 70-year-old
pensioner’s home at Wolfe Tone Street in Cork last Sunday, June 26th.

A PENSIONER allegedly robbed of his life savings by a man posing as a
garda has been inundated with donations and offers of help. The 70-year-old had his life savings of €28,000 stolen at his Cork home last week.And
while gardai have since recovered a substantial sum of money -- almost
€19,000 -- it remains unclear if this is connected to the June 26
incident.Until the court makes a ruling on the recovered cash,
it will remain classified as evidence and it may be up to three years
before it is returned to its owner.
