Everybody loves looking back at pictures from a party, but unless you're lucky enough to have one of those friends who brings a camera to every party and does the work for you, documenting the event can be a pain in the ass. Most of us would rather be, you know, partying. Today I'll show you a few ways you can effortlessly—but extensively—document your next party, using everything from freeware software to some cheap hardware for your camera. When you're done, you'll be able to automate your party photos or make taking pictures fun, giving everyone incentive to contribute to the documentation process. NOTE: I celebrated my 27th birthday this weekend, and for an entirely age-appropriate party, I decided to throw myself a Rock Band birthday. K read more »

rolodex.png We've got IMAP for email, iCal, and other syncing options for calendars, but what about our address books? Most likely you use a combination of proprietary services like Facebook and other social networks, desktop address books, and cell phone and webmail contact lists to keep track of who's who in your life, but there's still no easy way to maintain and sync your digital Rolodex wherever you need it. fbcal.png One of the best side effects of using Facebook is knowing when your contacts' birthdays are—but you only see them if you log in. The Facebook application fbCal is out to fix that. Once you install it on Facebook, fbCal creates an iCal file for your Facebook contacts' birthdays as well as Facebook events. Subscribe to the feed in your iCal-enabled calendar app of choice, like Mac's iCal or Google Calendar. When I tried fbCal last night, I subscribed to the resulting birthday .ICS file in Google Calendar, and nothing showed up. This morning, however, all my friends' birthdays were lighting up my schedule, so read more »

postcard_post.jpgWindows only: John's Background Switcher, a free wallpaper-swapping utility, now lets you import photos from your Facebook profile and your friends' for swapping in and out as desktop backgrounds, in addition to Flickr access. We've taken a look at John's handy app before, but he's fixed and added a lot since then, including an automatic background color picker, new collage modes including "postcard" (pictured), and other goodies. John's Background Switcher is a free download for Windows systems only. Thanks, Travis! John' read more »

The ReadWriteWeb site lists a few webapp combinations that add up to more than the sums of their parts. In the list: Jott & Evernote (as guest Brad Isaac detailed for us), AideRSS with the ticker-display Snackr, Facebook filtered through Dapper, and other clever ideas. But you're the folks who actually read about and use the services we write about—so let's hear some of your own killer combinations. What webapps filter/feed/pipe each other best? Post your link-ups in the comments. Some Web Apps Work Better Together [ReadWriteWeb]
