A new UK study shows that keyboards swabbed from an ordinary London office had more harmful bacteria than—you know what's coming—a toilet seat. Yeeks! The accompanying survey showed that most users clean their keyboard infrequently (if at all), and clean their mouse even less often. Here's what you do: shut down your PC, unplug your keyboard and mouse, shake out any dust, lint and other crap, and wipe 'em down with disinfectant alcohol wipes. Right this very minute. For a more thorough cleaning which involves disassembly and compressed air, see this step by step guide. Linux only: AcetoneISO2, a free, open-source application for Linux systems, gives you complete control over your disk images and CD/DVD mounting without having to touch the command line once. The previously mentioned app has moved into a refined 2.0 version, adding a few new functions (CD audio backup, DVD to AVI conversion, and more) and making everything a bit simpler to use, with real time progress bars for all features and no surprise terminal prompts. Packages are available for most major Linux distributions at the download page, and the source is provided for all others. AcetoneISO2 is a free download for Linux systems only. Thanks, Mike H!

Not every music fan who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s knew about it. But for those who did, “120 Minutes” was a weekly ritual.
The MTV alternative rock show was a Sunday night immersion in music
that wasn’t played on mainstream radio. It gave wide exposure to the
unusual, the offbeat and the downright iconoclastic, and earned a
dedicated following. The rest of the week was dedicated to Madonna and
Def Leppard; for fans of the Pixies, Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, My Bloody
Valentine and other alternative favorites, there were only those
precious two hours.
