Apparently vodka takes away the pain in more ways than one. Cocktail expert Miss Charming lists several uses for vodka (besides drinking it), including this gem:To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves the adhesive. Haven't tried this technique myself, but next time I've got a Band-Aid on, instead of the fast rip-off approach I might reach into the bar first. Home design weblog Apartment Therapy says that whether you need to quickly de-clog your drain or brighten your toilet, a tab or two of Alka-Seltzer is just the ticket.This won't work for serious clogs, but it's a low cost solution for a moderately clogged kitchen sink. First drop in a couple Alka-Seltzer tablets down the sink, and follow it up with a chaser of vinegar (1 cup). Allow for the chemical reaction to work its magic for about 2 minutes, then run the hot water at full force to help jettison out the debris.
