After reporting the theft to the postal service, Roth received a flier from the Federal Trade Commission with techniques for fighting identity theft. Instead of giving the thieves the opportunity to cash in on any sensitive information they may have obtained, Roth followed every step of the FTC's flier, which takes a three-pronged approach to identity theft prevention: Deter, Detect, and Defend. The Mountain View-based company, Google, is now encountering new problems regarding the imagery provided by Google Earth, as the Chinese authorities seem to be ready to ban lots of mapping services including Google’s. What’s interesting is that the Chinese officials labeled these solutions as ‘illegal’ because they show sensitive information which should be hidden from the public eye.

Much like my beloved KeePass (available for Mac as KeePassX), Pastor stores a title, username, password, URL, and notes for each entry and locks the entire database with one master password. Pastor's interface is a simple, no-nonsense single window. Unlike KeePassX, you can't organize your entries in folders, but it does include a handy password generator that tailors suggestions to rules (like alphanumeric only, mixed case, must include symbols, etc).
