facebookblockapplication.png You never have to decline 17 zombie bites again: Facebook finally offers long-overdue opt-out capabilities for applications and by sender. When you receive an application request, you can now click the "Block This Application" link to never see that application again, or if you have a friend who's particularly aggressive with the invites, you can also hit the "Ignore All Invites From This Friend." Can I get a Hallelujah! Update: A reader informs us that this has been in place since February. Apologies for the old news! We've been avoiding Facebook for awhile now because of all the, uh, application spam.

mobaganda_scaled.jpgEvite seems to be the standard for sending event invitations by email, but it has its annoyances. Mobaganda makes invites dead simple. Head to the site and type in the basics of your event. You'll get a unique page thrown together for you, which you send as a link to guests via email (or Twitter, or text, or whatever you prefer). They arrive, answer yes or no, and you keep track of replies via RSS, or just checking the page. It's an elegant alternative to sending sometimes goofy themed emails with no information in them.

One is so straightforward, it's likely overlooked in most cases:Try to contact someone in the PR department, but anyone with the power to grant invites is good. Then simply offer to review the service if you can get in on the beta now. Have a specific site in mind — if you want to post the review to your blog, be able to mention your readership numbers.
