In the past weeks, Yahoo! Mail has experienced some SMTP issues that had messages being delivered late, starting from minutes and up to days. It was a big problem that nobody was aware of unless they specifically checked with the intended receiver. A bigger mess couldnÂ’t be possible, especially with messages that were urgent and did not make it in time.

The Yahoo! Mail Blog, offering peaks into what the team is working on and giving out advice on resolving issues, has given us a heads-up (or better said has pulled our sleeve) on the new features introduced. Recycle your old electronics for free with the US Postal Service's new "Mail Back" program. The program, which allows you to discard your used electronics in an environmentally friendly manner, provides free envelopes in 1,500 post offices to handle everything from inkjet cartridges to cell phones and MP3 players. The postage-paid Mail Back envelopes are located in post office lobbies, and you can take as many as you want for free. Currently the pilot program supports 10 areas, including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., but could go nationwide this fall if the trial is successful. POP3 is probably the only thing that makes lots of users turn to Yahoo Mail and use it as their default email service. However, the Sunnyvale company Yahoo, the owner of Yahoo Mail, is not willing to introduce POP3 support in the free version of the service and continues to offer this function only to the paying customers. In case youÂ’ve read my last articles, you may be tempted to believe that IÂ’m an addicted Yahoo Mail fan that canÂ’t live without POP3. Well, IÂ’m not, but I canÂ’t imagine such a popular webmail service without POP3 support. Maybe IÂ’m not one of those old-fashioned guys who prefer to log in to a website in order to check their email account, but doing such a thing needs time and time is quite important nowadays. Since yesterday we all celebrated April Fool's Day, the folks at Yahoo have also tried to do some pranks to their users, no matter if we're talking about Yahoo Mail or other product developed by the Sunnyvale company. Several reports regarding an incompatibility between the Firefox browser plus the Firebug plugin and the new Yahoo Mail are apparently true as the Yahoo employees are now advising people to update Firebug to the latest version.
