The book also has a section highlighting 20 of the country's worst foods, and the article republishes eight of them, categorized with names like "worst fast food meal" and "worst drink". The "winners"?Worst Fast Food Meal: McDonald's Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips with creamy ranch sauce. Chicken sounds healthy, but not at 870 calories.

Blogger Jonathan Mead lists 11 "odd but simple" ways to improve your health, like using a Neti pot, brushing your skin, fasting, and using colon hydrotherapy. In fact, our own guest editor Brad Isaac swears by a Neti pot's ability to kill his allergies. Along the same lines, just this morning a friend was telling me all about the health benefits of Bikram hot yoga, which detoxifies your system. mulch1.png A reader at frugal finance blog Get Rich Slowly suggests shredding your junk mail and using it to mulch your garden. To avoid killing your garden with inks and metals leeching off the shredded paper, the author uses the following guidelines:
I only shred the non-glossy stuff, and try to avoid colored ink as much as possible. Since I'm shredding to avoid identity theft in the first place, and credit applications these days contain colored ink, I can't stay 100% black and white, but I can accept that.I shred plastic items like credit cards and CDs separately and discard.I only use the shreds where food is not grown, just to be safe. You can also use it in the bottom of flower pots inside the house to save potting soil.
