Those who say that Wikipedia isn't one of the most important web services nowadays should think twice. Because it surely is. But this is not enough and Wikimedia Foundation which owns Wikipedia is planning to do even more than that. According to several reports, Wikipedia will be released in printed version in Germany as soon as September and will be sold for 19.95 euros. The latest release of the popular Linux Distribution Ubuntu, numbered 8.04 and code-named "Hardy Heron," is available for download and upgrading. The Mountain View-based company released an updated version of Google Earth a few days ago, a new edition of the downloadable mapping tool which is supposed to correct several glitches spotted in the 4.3 beta version rolled out some weeks ago. As you probably remember, Google has recently released Google Earth 4.3 beta version of the downloadable tool which includes many improvements from the previous release.

mozyformack.pngMac only: Online backup service Mozy has released the final, 1.0 version of their Mac client, which doesn't have all the options that the PC side does, but still gets the job done. Choose which folders you want to back up on Mozy's servers over an encrypted connection, or simply back up your entire home directory, or pre-suggested sets of files (like your Address Book, iCal, Application Preferences, etc). I've actually plunked down the $5 a month unlimited storage at Mozy costs, and I use it on both my Mac and PC. Overall the service helps me sleep better at night knowing I've got off-site backup and and doesn't slow down my computer or work too much. I've only got one complaint. The latest version 9 of the Fedora Linux distribution is now available for your downloading and installation pleasure. The Fedora-lovers at Ars Technica report:
Fedora 9 delivers a cutting edge desktop stack with the latest software and version 2.6.25 of the Linux kernel. This release includes GNOME 2.22, which has some significant improvements like the GVFS virtual filesystem abstraction layer. This is also the first version of Fedora to offer KDE 4, a long-awaited overhaul of the KDE environment. Firefox 3 beta 5—which uses less memory and provides a vastly improved browsing experience compared to Firefox 2—is shipped as the default browser.
