Masi is the word for what we know as the month of February, and Magam (or Makam) is one of the 27 astrological stars (maybe nakshatras). Magam usually falls on a full moon day during the Masi month. Part of the ritual around this festival involves taking a chariot out to sea with idols of the gods.
