progress.pngNext time you're burning a DVD, downloading a large file, or extracting a multi-gigabyte file and don't want to sit at your computer staring at the progress meter, use your Mac's built-in screen zoom feature to keep your progress bar visible from across the room. As we've shown you before, you can quickly zoom in on any section of your monitor by holding the Ctrl key and then using your mouse's scrollwheel. Now just zoom in on your progress bar and walk away—you should still be able to track your progress from well into the next room like I did this weekend while burning a DVD. Handy. There's no reason why you can't do the same thing in Windows, but as far as I know there's no similar built-in shortcut. If you've got a Windows solution, or you'd like to share how you put the zoom-scroll feature to good use, let's hear about it in the comments.
